We also learned about some animals that participated in the wars.
As a class, we have had some great discussions about what peace is and what peace means to us. Students were very respectful as I shared my family history in the wars and some other students mentioned they have had family members that have fought in different wars and countries as well.
Yesterday, we enjoyed our visit from Calgary Transit about how to ride the bus and C-Train!
Practicing our Math skills!
Our numeracy groups continue to work towards their goals, including tallies, skip counting even/odd, ordering, place value, estimating, comparing, and regrouping. Ask your child what group they are in and what activities they have been doing!
In our literacy groups, we continue to develop our connections to texts, our reading skills with letter sounds, using punctuation and plurals in our writing as well as using an intentional reading pace and expression. Ask your child about whether they have been working on capitals, periods, plurals or the long and short A sounds! Check in with them to see where they are in listening to Tuck Everlasting and who is 104 years old!
Next week, we are excited to hone our understanding about composting with another Scientist in Schools visit.
Reminder: Please ensure that indoor shoes are provided as it provides a safety issue to have wet footwear in the school.
Thank you to those that have paid field trip fees. Please pay them if you have not done so!
