Our school community is invited to enjoy our arcade during the following four timeslots:

Families are invited to attend any of the four timeslots.
Each time slot will include:
·      A video presentation to explain all of the hard work and learning that has occurred
·      An opportunity to play the games and win tickets
·      A chance to trade in tickets for prizes

All students that attend Cambrian Heights School will be able play for free however there will be an opportunity to donate money to Caine’s Imagination Foundation http://imagination.org. The mission of Caine’s Imagination Foundation is to find, foster, and fund creativity in children around the world to raise a generation of innovators and problem solvers, who have the tools they need to build the world they imagine.

All Arcade goers visiting the school will have an opportunity to buy different play passes for either $1, $2 or $5. We will donate all of the money raised to the Imagination Foundation.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday!

Monday

Today, we enjoyed another visit from Constable Rich, who read us Stone Soup. We talked about how we can be a community and contribute to community soup with positive choices. We watched a video a while ago that illustrated a similar idea! (One Human Family, Food for All)

We watched a step by step drawing video that taught us to draw a deer after we brainstormed animals we see in the winter and how they stay warm and what they eat in the winter. We connected it with how we stay warm in the winter! (How to Draw A Deer)

Today, we continued our Friday discussion about what the grade 6s are excited for and worried about in their upcoming transition to middle school.

We reviewed the orders of the months and days of the week and started to think about which months were in which season.  We also started looking at our February calendar and filling in our events and holidays!

Happy Friday!

Report cards went home today, along with a copy of your student's Individual Program Plan.

Yesterday, we played some new math games using dice.

Today, we watched a video about perseverance and connected it with a beautifully illustrated version of the story The Tortoise and the Hare.

Students were challenged to draw and fill in the numbers and hands on a clock to see what they had remembered from reading groups about calendar and time this week.

We have also been challenging students to write more of their own goals and feelings each morning without the sentence starters by looking back at past goals and copying the work, or attempting their own spelling and then seeking assistance to correct it.

Our recycling and composting collections continue twice a week.

Next week, we will be working on updating a February calendar with class routines and school events, holidays, etc. to help us keep track of our days at school and practice our calendar and time skills!

We will be reviewing our classroom rules and creating our own visual reminders.

Tomorrow, Monday, January 28, 2019, Constable Rich will be joining us again to talk to us about Community Soup!

On Wednesday, January 30, 2019,  it is Hawaiian day!  :)

Welcome Back! Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope that everyone has had a wonderful and restful winter holiday with family and friends.

Please touch base with me via phone, email, or homebook about any noteworthy events or happenings over your child's break.

Today, we reviewed what goals were, why we set them, and what kind of goals we should be thinking of making. We are continuing to work on our goal booklets.
